Stude Ham from Outremont Canada writes: The single most destructive influence on children's desires to lead more active lifestyles has to do with competitive games in which some are labelled 'winners' (yay) and others 'losers' (boo). For hevvin's sake, why don't they teach them the sheer pleasure of active pastimes in which they really are doing something good for themselves and not for the approval or disapproval of peer, coaches, teachers, parents, or other viewers? This Olympic or championship athletics mind set has to be abolished at all levels of child training programs if the children are to eventually feel good about themselves for just doing something actively on their own. Which child wants to continue participating in the negative feedback environment of not being as good as some trainer, or peer, or worse, being a loser in some activities?

---- Why are our kids fitness flops?, Globea and Mail Q&A session.

My concern on kid fitness levels is the focus on group activities.
